Manor On Tour (England, France and Belgium)

2-6th October 2017

Day One involved saying our fond farewells to family members who waved us on our way, followed by a long coach journey to Dover. We all enjoyed the ferry crossing even though it was a little windy up on deck.  The evening was spent looking around the Chateau D'Ebblinghem which was to be our home for the next 4 nights.

Tuesday was our day to find out about World War One. We headed north into Belgium where we visited the Passchendaele Memorial Museum for the morning finding out about life in the trenches 100 years ago. After lunch we went to visit two WW1 cemeteries, Tyne Cot where were searched for some names from Frodsham, followed by Langdemark which is a German cemetery.  Here we met  some German reservists.  Our last stop of the day was Ypres where we went to a chocolate shop and then had our own service of remembrance at the Menin Gate.

Our evening activity was crepe making.  Click on the photo below to go to our second page about our visit.
