Celebrating the Arts

We are very proud to have been awarded Arts Mark Gold not once but four times on the run and we are a Sing Up Platinum School which means not only are we super singers but we are also ambassadors for singing throughout Cheshire. Wow!

In 2017 we had a whole team of 21 Arts Award Leaders from years 5 and 6 who  were awarded Arts Award Explore or Discover from Trinity College.

Each year we have two productions in school. Recent infant productions have included 'The Midwife Crisis' and 'The Xmas Factor', they are always about the story of the Nativity. Key Stage Two perform towards the end of the summer term with a full musical. Their recent productions have included 'Joseph', 'Bugsy Malone' and are currently working on their own version of Mary Poppins. We are looking forward to using our new Lighting and Sound Rig which was installed in May 2015.

We also look forward to a range of other events including Young Voices and 'Stars in their eyes'. Christmas is also a busy time for our 90 strong choir who perform at Frodsham Christmas Festival and visit a number of residential homes in the area. We really enjoy singing in the community and making others smile.

Thanks to a large donation from Frodsham Music Festival we have received lots of new instruments last year We are particularly enjoying using the new Samba Class Kit. We now have a  Samba Gang who perform in the community with 25 members from years 4-6. The plastic pipes are called Boomwhackers - they are great fun. Look at our new instruments below.

Year 5 have free instrumental lessons on their choice of instrument and we learn to play together as a Wind Band working with Mrs Anstice, Mr Price and Mrs Slater.

Children can also have instrumental lessons through Music for Life which are recommended for Year 2 upwards.

As well as all our musical activities we also have a drama club in partnership with Liverpool Empire Theatre, an art club and street dance crews. We really enjoy expressing ourselves through the arts and our end results are fantastic. Every two years we have our own Art Exhibition and last summer all classes created bees to decorate Dandelion Gift Shop for the Bee Festival.
