Living Star 2016
9th -17th June 2016
Frodsham, Liverpool, Manchester, Chester, Blackpool, Helsby
On Thursday 9th June, ten nervous travellers accompanied by three teachers flew out of Accra in Ghana to come to Frodsham Manor House School. The pupils and staff were from our partnership school, Living Star and the majority of travellers were on their first ever flight. Friday morning saw the children from ten amazing host families welcome our guests at Manchester Airport. From here on we experienced an emotional week of making friendships and memories. Well done to all at school who fundraised throughout the year to make the visit possible. Keep reading below to see what happened during the week.
On Friday evening we all went to Castle Park where we were met by other school families. There was an official welcome from the Mayor, Cllr Mallie Poulton and Junior Mayors which was followed by fun at the fair.
On Sunday we went to join with Frodsham Methodist Church where the Living Star staff and pupils sang a traditional worship song in Twi which is the local language for Accra. We then went into Chester to join with the Queen's 90th Birthday celebrations. We took part in two parades, had our own performance slot on the main stage (the only primary school to do so) and joined with 150 children singing a medley of songs which represented the last 90 years. Thanks Matt Baker for our invite and inviting Living Star onto the vintage bus. We had a great afternoon and eventually the sun came out. Afterwards some of the host families went to play in the snow at Chill Factore.
