France and Belgium Residential 2024
Years 5 and 6
23rd-28th September 2024
Monday
We met in school at 6am then spent the day travelling. Many of us experienced a ferry journey for the first time so we enjoyed a bit of time up on the deck. We arrived in Chateux Ebblingham ready for our evening meal.
Tuesday
On Tuesday we crossed the border into Belgium for our World War I history day. We started at Tyne Cot, then to Passchendale, Langemark and Ypres. We visited a chocolate shop and laid a wreath on behalf of our school at the Menin Gate.
Wednesday
We had a walk around Boulogne-Sur-Mer visiting historical sites, a food market and shopping street. The candy floss was very popular. In the afternoon we experienced a snail farm.
Thursday
Thursday started with a visit to bake bread in a traditional French bakery followed by a World War Two Museum called La Coupole.
Friday
Travelled home.
With thanks to Logan and Fabian who looked after us at the Chateux and when out and about and Connor who was our driver. Also thanks to Mrs Hand (our medic), Mr Anstice (resident historian), Mrs Wilson, Mrs Deegan, Mrs Cain, Mr Watts and Mrs Anstice for accompanying this visit.
