The School Hall
Our first Voice Frodsham showcase was held on St David's Day with 17 contestants and a team of dancers. Our intitial auditions were attended by 35 children which Mr Watts and Mrs Anstice had the hard job of reducing the numbers to produce a show. We then had members of Year 6 audition to be hosts and the Year 6 Tech team had try outs to be on the spot light. (Following a course with Mr Kompier about lighting design.) Well done to Marnie, Bethan, Ellie and Sophie who did a fantastic job hosting the show, Aidan and Alex on the lighting team. Our dancers had been rehearsing after school with Mrs Hughes for the last few week and surprised everyone with the start of their "Thriller" dance hidden amongst the audience. A big thank you to those with the hardest job on the night, our Judges, Rachel Jackson, Iain Bennett, Iona Anstice and Mr Watts who were scoring according to vocal quality and overall performance.
We were very proud of all who performed including soloists to backing tracks, you showed bravery, resillience, friendship, confidence, empathy, acting skills, alongside your singing and dancing.
Thanks also to Bella who won last year and returned this year, as a Year 7 to open the show. What a stunning voice she has.
Many congrats to... Jess who received a special mention as she needed to change from a duet to a solo performance (due to illness) with 24 hours notice and did a great job singing "Believer". Children's Winner was a result from votes from the whole school who watched the performance in the morning was Thomas who had everyone up and dancing with "Never Gonna Give You Up". Best Newcomer went to one of our youngest contestants, Megan in Year 3 who danced and sang through "Levitating" with energy and a bright smile. Two people were placed 3rd who both gave stunning performances with great pitch, control and articulation who were Abi ("Thousand Years") and Barnaby ("Empty Chairs At Empty Tables"). 2nd place went to Isla with a beautiful storytelling version of "On My Own". Finally, 1st place was awarded to Luciana who gave a simply pure and perfect version of "Running Up The Hill" leaving everyone enthralled.
Thanks to all the adults at home who have helped with rehearsals, the PTA for doing refreshments, the Tech Team and all the staff supporting backstage.
